Fleur de Mer Rosé

Hello my lovely readers!

Welcome back to House Gleaves- I’m so happy you’re here! Today I wanted to talk about something a little different (i.e. not specifically fashion-related) but something that’s just as ingrained in my every day life. . . W I N E! Anyone who knows me can tell you about my love affair with wine- my favorite thing to do at the end of the day is sit in my living room with my laptop, The Beatles playlist, and a glass of wine to edit my photos.

A couple of months ago, I had the pleasure of beginning a partnership with Fleur de Mer Rosé, and it completely revolutionized my palette for rosé. I have to admit- this partnership really opened my eyes to the fact that I have not done a good job of cultivating my rosé palette. I’m not a red wine girl, and I have a ton (A TON!) of criteria for the white wine I’ll drink, but I guess I hadn’t really explored my likes/dislikes when it came to rosé. The first time I tried Fleur de Mer, I loved it and after doing some serious wine-soul-searching I’m going to tell you why:

#1: It’s light and fruity- upon further investigation, I learned that it was watermelon that I was tasting, as well as some cherry- AND there are notes of lavender!

#2: Fleur de Mer’s vineyards are in the Côtes de Provence (which is relevant to my love of this wine because I have incredibly romantic notions about the region- and may have lived there in a past life- so knowing that Fleur de Mer originates there gives it at least 10 extra points in my wine-rating book!)

#3: The color!!!! I have added this pink hue to no less than three (3) mental mood boards over the past couple of months- it really can’t be beat.

I closed out my summer with this wine partnership, and took Fleur de Mer on a Flat Stanley-esque adventure, of sorts (does anyone else remember that elementary school project?) This rosé joined me on Brooklyn picnics with my now-husband, girls nights in Manhattan, park days under the Brooklyn Bridge with friends, experimental home-cooked meals, solo fire escape adventures, and it even helped me survive my first big NYFW. I’d also like to say that although I’ve always thought of rosé as a “summer wine”, I am happy to report that Fleur de Mer transitioned so beautifully into colder Autumn weather, that it has busted that stereotype entirely. I will absolutely be drinking this rosé all winter long (and with my low-tolerance for NYC winters, it may very well be the only thing that helps me make it to next spring).

I’m signing off now, but if anyone needs me, I’ll be over here on my couch with my photos, The Beatles, and a glass of Fleur de Mer rosé.

Xx

Alexi
